THE WORKING SET / HEADPHONES

HD 25 VS
MDR-7506.

DJ booth or recording desk? Start with how you work.

Choose the standard HD 25 when one-ear cueing and a compact on-ear fit suit your set. Consider the MDR-7506 for recording and editing when you prefer an over-ear fit and a coiled cable with extra reach.

FOR ONE-EAR DJ CUEING

Sennheiser HD 25

The rotating capsule lets you move one side aside. The short, detachable cable and lower published weight make it a practical option to consider for a DJ bag.

Check the fit On-ear pads put pressure directly on your ears. Try the fit before committing to long sessions.

Check before buying Select the standard HD 25; Light, Plus and bundles are different options. Match your headphone output and 3.5 mm plug or 6.3 mm adapter.

FOR AN OVER-EAR DESK SETUP

Sony MDR-7506

The cups fit around your ears and the headphones fold for storage. The coiled lead can help when your headphone output sits farther from your chair.

Check the reach Sony’s three-metre cable figure is the extended length. Leave enough slack so the lead does not pull on the headphones.

Check before buying Select MDR-7506 and check condition and package contents. Match your headphone output and 3.5 mm plug or 6.3 mm adapter.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Try the fit.
Check the package.

With the HD 25, check the pressure on your ears. With the Sony, check whether the pads comfortably surround them. Try either pair with your glasses if you wear them. Weight and pad shape help narrow your options; they do not establish a comfort winner.

Match the exact model and seller before buying. HD 25 Light, HD 25 Plus and accessory bundles are separate purchase options. For the Sony, check that you are selecting MDR-7506 and review whether the unit is new, refurbished or bundled.

Both are wired headphones. Check your equipment’s headphone output and adapter requirements. Neither provides a Bluetooth connection or a microphone for calls.

HOW TO READ THIS GUIDE

Specs narrow
the choice.

A wider frequency range or higher maximum output does not prove more accurate sound. The published figures do not establish which pair will sound better to you or help your mixes translate more reliably. We have not measured those outcomes.

The recommendation here follows the physical designs and documented features. Choose the fit and cable arrangement that support your work, then assess the sound and comfort yourself. If your current headphones work well, replacing them may not be the next purchase you need.

We use Sony’s US operating manual for its weight and cable measurements because some regional support pages differ. Prices, sellers, stock and package contents can change. Check the retailer’s current listing before ordering.
